Students build on the skills they learned from R&W1 to further develop their academic reading and writing skills.

Course
Contents
Over the course of the semester students will learn strategies to promote fluency and accuracy in reading and writing through a variety of activities including reading extensively and intensively, and writing compositions. Although continuing to develop academic reading skills is a goal of this course, the emphasis of the fall semester is placed on acquiring writing skills. In particular, students will:
a) write multiple-draft essays with thesis and logical arguments,
b) write short responses on the topics discussed in class,
c) write a paragraph with grammatical accuracy and fluency,
d) master strategic reading skills and
e) develop critical reading skills to analyze, synthesize and evaluate articles.
