Objectives
Students will learn how to support and enhance the English communication skills of elementary and junior high school students through CIC community outreach activities in coordination with Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, and the Toshima Ward school district. Students will learn how to plan and conduct English language activities in taking into account of the students' age, language learning backgrounds, and interests. Students will be able to link language learning theory and practice.

Contents
This course will cover the planning, development, and implementation of three English Camps. In-class sessions will focus on the creation of activities and mirco-teaching practice.

The English Camps will be conducted at schools in Rikuzentaka City, Iwate Prefecture, and on the Rikkyo University Ikebukuro Campus in coordination with the Toshima Ward school district. The planning and development stages will take place before the English Camps. Experiential learning debriefing sessions will take place after each English Camp.

This course requires students to participate in English Camp events which will be held outside of the regular class hours. The English Camps conducted in Rikuzentakata City will be held at junior high schools in Rikuzentaka City, Iwate Prefecture, requiring overnight stays. The English Camps in Rikuzentaka City are tentatively scheduled to take place in early November (during the Fall holiday period). The English Camp conducted on the Ikebukuro Campus will be held on a Saturday (tentatively schedule for early December). Other off-campus activities may also be held, such as visits to local schools for observation purposes. The schedule will be announced on the first day of class.

The course will be conducted in English and participants will be asked to use English with English Camp students. Students will need English language conversational ability. However, there is no English language requirement for this course.

・陸前高田での実習の参加費(10,000円程度)は自己負担となります。
