Objectives
This course aims at providing opportunities for students to understand global issues related to human and social development and viewing these issues using a variety of lenses, focusing on marginalization.

Contents
The Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. SDGs address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate crisis, environmental degradation, peace and justice. This course explores global issues of social and human development. Depending on the availability of guest speakers, the topic and syllabus maybe adjusted.

Students are asked to read three English news articles (online) and submit one short papers during the semester.
Students are also asked to work in a small group to explore further on a specific topic of global issues, and present in the class.

This course is conducted in English and your participation is critical. Students are required to have adequate comprehension, communication and writing abilities of English. This is not a lecture style class, and students are also required to actively participate in group discussions during the class and group project in preparation for final presentation.
