現在は過去の積み重ねの上にあり、歴史を知ることは現代の世界のなりたちを知る上で極めて重要である。本科目では、古代から近代に至る世界の歴史を扱うため、細かい知識の修得を目的とするものではない。むしろ、歴史の全体像を俯瞰することによって、歴史的なものの見方を学び、現代の世界に対する多様な理解をできるようにしていきたい。学期中、数回ミニレポートを課す。

The present is built upon the past, and learning history is extremely important in understanding the origins of the modern world. Since the subject covers world history from ancient times to the modern world, the aim is not to gain detailed knowledge. Rather, by gaining an overall picture of history, we will aim toward learning a historical way of looking at things and developing a diverse understanding of the modern world. Students will submit several small reports during the semester.
