Course Objectives

!!! Attention !!!

This class is a continuation of Greek 1 [Elementary Greek (first half)] in the spring semester. Please note that if you have not attended this class, you will need to study the content on your own.

This course introduces students to elementary Greek grammar. By the end of the academic year, students will be reading some passages from the New Testament or the Plato’s dialogues etc. with the help of a dictionary and a grammar book.

Course Contents

[I. Overview]

The three main contents of the fall semester classes are as follows (see ‘Course Schedule’ for further details):

A. To learn verb conjugations.
B. To learn the main constructions of simple sentences.
C. To learn the main constructions of complex sentences.

[II. Classroom procedures]

The classes will be conducted as follows. In the first class, b (quiz) and c (answers to exercises) are not given.

a. [Before class] Download the teaching materials in advance if necessary.
b. [Start of class] Quiz.
c. Answers to exercises (students’ presentations in turn).
d. Hand out materials and study new grammar points.
e. Instructions for the next quiz and exercises.
f. [After class] Memorise the material for the quiz and complete the exercises.
