Course Objectives

The course will introduce the research field known as Digital Humanities, which is currently influence on humanities all over the world, give an overview of how it relates to the various media with which we are familiar, and then examine the future for the humanities in the development of the digitalized society.

Course Contents

The course consists of 1) the introduction to Digital Humanities and Media Studies, 2) its development, and 3) its practice, referring to a variety of texts related to the humanities, such as history, literature, and thought, as well as media as books, television, the Internet, SNS, and etc. The course will be conducted through a mixture of lectures, talks by guest speakers, and dialogue between the professor, guest speakers and students.
