Course Objectives

*understanding how to read Shakespeare's English (Early Modern English)
*grasping the structure of the narrative and enjoying the richness of its poetic expression
*learning the basics of stage and film analysis

Course Contents

We will read William Shakespeare's famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. We will focus on developing the ability to read the original text, while also referring to stage performances and films as appropriate. In addition, we will deepen our understanding of the historical and cultural background of the play. The course will be conducted through explanations by the instructor, presentations by students, and discussions.
