物語構造を把握し、詩的表現の豊かさを楽しむこと。
舞台や映画などの映像分析の基本を学ぶこと。

ウィリアム・シェイクスピアの有名な恋愛悲劇『ロミオとジュリエット』を読みます。本作は戯曲であることから、上演映像や映画なども適宜参照しつつ、基本的には原典を読む力を身につけるところに焦点を当てます。また本作の歴史的・文化的背景についても理解を深めます。授業の進め方としては、教員による解説と学生のみなさんによる発表、ディスカッションなどを予定しています。

We will read William Shakespeare's famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. We will focus on developing the ability to read the original text, while also referring to stage performances and films as appropriate. In addition, we will deepen our understanding of the historical and cultural background of the play. The course will be conducted through explanations by the instructor, presentations by students, and discussions.
