漢字語彙の原義について、その伝統文化的背景から分析的に理解を深めながら、現代社会におけるその意味的変容に内在する本質的問題を考察する視点を養う。

The goal of this course is to deepen the understanding of the original meaning of Chinese characters from the perspective of its traditional cultural background, and cultivate the ability to observe the core problems of the distortion and deterioration of word meaning caused by modern society.

・日本語を形成してきた要素としての漢字文化の源流に立ちかえる目的で、中国哲学の経典の一つとされる『道徳経』の講読を通して、漢字そのものの原義、およびその広がりを中国の古典籍、あるいは現代に継承する様々な伝統文化の面から探る。
・近代の漢字文化圏に劇的変化をもたらした西洋概念を念頭にしながら、現代で使用される漢字語彙についても、社会的背景に注意しながら、漢字の原義からどう逸脱しているかについて考察する。
・各回の授業においては、輪番として担当者を定め、漢字語彙についてのリサーチと分析を行い、レジュメを作成し、発表する。
適宜、中国語や漢文資料をあつかうが、受講生のこれらの学習歴は問わない。

・Laozi's Dao De Jing (道德经)is known as the classical Chinese philosophical book. Through the interpretation of this ancient book, we analyze the original meaning of Chinese characters from multiple perspectives. This analysis can detect the origin of Chinese character culture that formed Japanese.
・During the period of the spread of Western learning to the east, the background that the original quality of the Chinese character cultural circle was gradually invaded and deteriorated by modern Western thought needs to be further investigated, so we need to carefully analyze the variability in the meaning of Chinese characters that are widely used today.
・In each class, each student publishes the results of interpretation and analysis in turn, and also needs to prepare in advance to write the manuscript for publication.
・We do not ask students whether they have the experience of learning classical Chinese and modern Chinese, but students must try their best to look up dictionaries and so on to supplement their ability to understand these articles.

予習: 各回の担当者は、一連の漢字語彙を選びながら、それぞれについて可能な限り分析し、レジュメを作成し、発表に備える。非担当者も、担当者の発表範囲の中で、重要と思われる漢字語彙を選び、可能な限り分析し、小レポートを作成して討論に備える。
復習: 学習した事項は各自まとめて、適宜追加の分析を加え、理解を深めた上で中間総括、および最終報告書に備える。
