Course Objectives

(1) Students will acquire the basic knowledge about various survey/research methods used in the field of social science to evaluate and examine critically the best method for their own research. (2) Through the assignments (Students will read literatures and create summaries, in addition to conducting basic researches on unclear points or questions found in these literatures). Through these assignments, they will be able to correctly summarize main points in these writings. (3) They will discuss with others in the class to acquire theoretical thinking and conversational skills.

Course Contents

Each week, instructor will assign reading materials. In this class, students will take turns to read these materials, make presentations based on them, and participate in discussions. Students must acquire basic research methods to summarize assigned literatures and research unclear points or questions. Students are requested to research and summarize these in self-directed manner before attending each class.
