The aim is for you to become able to translate Latin texts, based on an understanding of grammatical structure.
We will read relatively simple Latin texts. In the class, preassigned students will provide a grammatical analysis and translation of the designated section, and, when necessary, the course instructor will review and give supplementary explanation on grammatical matters.
Texts will be chosen from among myths and fables for beginners, Caesar’s Commentarii de Bello Gallico, Nepos’ De Viris Illustribus, Livy’s Ab Urbe Condita, according to your proficiency level and requests.
Although it is desirable that you have learned basic Latin grammar before taking the course, you can take the course if you have studied by yourself and acquired a certain level of grammatical knowledge.

ラテン語初級文法を一通り学んでいることが望ましい。
ラテン語のテキストについて、文法構造を理解した上で訳すことが出来るようになることを目指す。

比較的平易なラテン語テキストを読んでいく。授業では、事前に決めた担当者に文法解析及び訳をしてもらい、担当教員が必要に応じて文法事項の復習や補足を行う。
テキストは初学者向けの神話や寓話、カエサル『ガリア戦記』、ネポス『英雄伝』、リウィウス『ローマ建国史』などの中から、受講者の習熟度や希望に応じて選択する。
受講にあたっては初級文法を一通り学んでいることが望ましいが、独学などである程度の文法知識があれば受講可能である。
