In this course, we will examine various issues related to ethics and bioethics found in present day society, while working through some Christian thoughts. We will identify, assess, and consider issues, ascertaining from where they arise while identifying their points of view on matters. This course aims to cultivate students’ attitude toward them.
The questions asked in ethics/bioethics are also questions that one's own self is called into question when talking about them. In this course, we will consider what the ideal states of "I/me" / "we/us" should be, through examining the issues discussed in Christian theology and philosophy of religion.
After the class, you will be asked to submit your comments. These comments will be anonymous, and the comments will be shared. This enables students to be exposed to differing viewpoints and helps them to widen their perspective. It is desirable that you participate actively, as the class will involve sharing submitted comments, in addition to discussions between students with different views, and answering questions and comments. The course will proceed by answering the questions and arguments. Topics and material covered will be adjusted based on the students’ interests and current world events.
Additionally, video materials will be used in order to cultivate a better understanding. (It is also planned for students to divide into groups and hold discussions.)
Note that there is some overlap with Torii's other classes in order to understand the content.

現代社会において見られる倫理／生命倫理的問題について、問題の確認やそれに対する批判・検討を行いながら、キリスト教思想を通しつつ、それがどこから語られているのか、それを語る自分自身はどのようにあるのか、ということに向き合う姿勢を養う。
In this course, we will examine various issues related to ethics and bioethics found in present day society, while working through some Christian thoughts. 倫理／生命倫理において問われる問題は、それを語る自分自身が問われてくる問題でもある。本授業では、そういった問題について、キリスト教神学や宗教哲学などにおいて論じられているところを確認・検討しつつ、われわれがどのようなあり様をしているのかといったことを考究していく。
なお、授業後に毎回コメントを提出してもらうが、そのコメントペーパーは匿名化した上で皆と共有し、より多くの意見を知ることによって見識を広めてもらうつもりである。また、授業は提出してもらったコメントの紹介や、コメント同士の議論、疑問への応答、コメントへの応答などをしつつ進めていくため、積極的な参加を望む。授業の進行や扱うテーマも、受講者の関心や社会状況などに応じて適宜調整する予定である。
また、理解を深めるために、映像資料も用いるつもりである。（グループに分かれてディスカッションをしてもらうことも考えている。）
なお、内容理解のために、鳥居の他の授業と重複する部分があることをご承知願いたい。
