In this course, students will learn how Christianity has influenced Japanese educational thought since modernization, especially in postwar Japanese society, which is said to have become secularized. Furthermore, we will consider how Christian schools can make the most of their characteristics in today's society, where values are also becoming more diverse.
(1) Study the relationship between Western educational thought and Christianity.
(2) Examine how Christianity influenced Japanese education during the process of modernization that embraced Western culture and in the building of postwar society.
(3) In the postwar period, when public schools did not teach religion in the classroom, we will learn how Christian schools have made the most of their educational characteristics and consider how we can make the most of them in the future.

第1回目の授業で授業の詳細について説明します。
本講義では、キリスト教が、近代化以降の日本の教育思想、特に、世俗化されたといわれる戦後の日本社会で、教育にどのような影響を与えてきたかを学びます。さらに、価値観も多様化している現代社会で、キリスト教学校がその特性をどのように生かすことができるかを考えます。
In this course, students will learn how Christianity has influenced Japanese educational thought since modernization, especially in postwar Japanese society, which is said to have become secularized. Furthermore, we will consider how Christian schools can make the most of their characteristics in today's society, where values are also becoming more diverse.
(1) 欧米の教育思想とキリスト教の関係を学ぶ。
(2) 欧米の文化を受け入れた近代化の過程や戦後の社会を築くなかで、キリスト教が日本の教育にどのような影響を与えたかを検討する。
(3) 戦後、国公立学校が授業で宗教を扱わない状況下で、キリスト教学校がその教育の特質をどのようにいかしてきたかを学び、今後どのように生かしていくかを考える。
