By the end of this course, students will be able to
① Understand diverse issues of sexuality and gender in Christianity
② Comprehend how these issues are closely related to feminism
③ Critically analyze discourses and current situations surrounding gender and sexuality.
The main theme of this course is “feminism and Christianity.” Many issues that feminism has tackled with have deep connections with Christianity. Christianity has functioned as both the agency of reinforcing sexism and the agency of supporting people who fight against it. We will analyze these complex aspects of Christianity focusing on the relationship with feminism. By doing so, students will be able to break away from simplified views of Christianity and feminism and gain a critical perspective to analyze the dynamics of gender/sexuality and religion.

本クラスを通して受講⽣は、
① キリスト教と性をめぐる諸課題を学び、
② それらとフェミニズムとの関わりを知ることで、
③ 性をめぐる⾔説や現状を批判的に分析することができるようになる

本クラスの主題はフェミニズムとキリスト教である。フェミニズムが長い歴史を通して取り組んできた諸課題は、キリスト教と深い関わりを持つ。キリスト教は性差別を支える言説としても、それに抵抗する主体を支える言説としても機能してきた。その複雑な諸相をフェミニズムとの関わりにおいて紐解くことで、単純化されたキリスト教観／フェミニズム観から脱却し、性と宗教をめぐる力学を分析する力をつけることを目指す。
