Through close reading of academic papers /books especially written in Japanese, the seminar participants will learn what themes are currently attracting attention in Japanese academic world of ancient Mediterranean studies, and will be able to decide their own research themes.
The seminar participants will be asked to make selections from Japanese-language academic papers according to the interests of the each participant and to give presentations on them. Through accurately grasping the authors' intents and logic and through learning how to use historical materials, the participants will discover what they must do for their own undergraduate theses. This work aims to learn matters such as how a theme set according to a participants' interest is positioned within the scholarly trends of Japanese academia, and what sort of contribution the participant is expected to make to it.

セミナー参加者が、日本語文献の精読を通じて、現在、日本の古代地中海学界の中でどのようなテーマが注目されているのかを学び、自らの研究テーマを決められるようになることを、本授業の目標とします。

セミナー参加には、各自の興味に従って日本語論文を選択し、それについて発表をしていただきます。著者の意図や論理を正確に理解し、史料の使い方を学ぶことを通じて、卒業論文に向けて自分自身が何をやらなければならないか知ることができます。こうした作業の狙いは、自らの興味関心に従って設定したテーマが、日本の学界の学問動向の中にどのように位置付けられ、またそれに対していかなる貢献をすることになると予想されるのか、そうしたことを知ることにあります。

夏季休業期間中に日本語論文を10本（あるいは研究書3冊）以上選んで精読し、その中からどれを発表するか選択してください。また初回の授業用に、文献リストをご用意ください。
なお、文献を読み進めるにあたっては、読書ノート（電子媒体でも構いませんが、紙媒体のが望ましいです）を一冊作り、適時、要点や疑問点などをまとめるようにしてください。
