While enhancing their ability to comprehend historical materials and academic papers on medieval Japanese history, students will explore their research themes with an emphasis on the relationship with the writing of a graduation thesis.
In the third year, students will collect and read historical materials related to their own research themes (while referring to prior research), and will aim to acquire the ability to read academic research papers (in particular, the ability to distinguish literature based on academic procedures from those not).
(1) Group reading of historical materials
(2) Group reading of academic papers
(3) Creation of reports aimed at writing a preliminary thesis and graduation thesis
(1) About 60 minutes each session The course will perform group reading of ancient and medieval documents The course assumes that students have taken the "Ancient Manuscripts 1" class in their second year; those who have not done so should take the course during this academic year.
(2) About 30 minutes each session Each session, a designated reporter will prepare a summary of the content of the target literature, as well as an outline of the methods of the discussions, demonstrations, and interpretations of the historical materials (use of historical materials). Based on this, all participants will engage in deliberations. Academic papers will be decided in consultation with reporters in accordance with their interest. Writing an academic paper requires knowledge on how to make it better. Reporters are encouraged to learn how to write academic papers by summarizing outstanding academic papers in an outline paper.
(3) Students will confirm their research themes, collect and organize related literature and historical materials in line with the themes (including creation of a bibliography as opportunity permits), and will deepen their research themes. Students will create reports during the long break. A specific report plan will be decided in the first class.
The course will help students deepen understanding of the seminars by visiting historical sites and museums and by holding seminar camps (scheduled twice a year or so) as mandatory participation by the students.

参加者には，初回の授業の際に問題関心や研究テーマについてヒアリングする予定である。
とはいえ，そのことを気にして，急いで自分の研究テーマを決めてしまうのではなく，幅広く見聞を積んでアンテナを広げておくこと。新書レヴェルの本は気軽に手にとって読む習慣を身につけたい。
★史料読解の訓練のために「古文書」の講義を継続して履修することが望ましい。日本中世史関係の「史学講義」も可能な限り履修してほしい。日本中世史を専攻するという自分の専門性への自覚をもってほしい。教養のありがたさというのは、ある程度専門性を深めた後になってようやく理解されるものだと思う。私自身は皆さんに教養をもってほしいと思うし、そのためにもいろいろな授業を積極的にとってほしいが、それが上っ面の「お勉強」にならないためにも、自分の思考の基礎となる専門性というものを持ってほしいと願っている。

日本中世史の史料・論文の読解能力を高めるとともに，卒業論文の制作との関連を重視して，各自の研究テーマを探究する。
3年生の段階では，自分の研究テーマに関連する史料を集めて（先行研究を参考にしながら）読むとともに，学術的な論文を集めて読む力を身につける（特に学術的な手続きを踏まえた文献とそうではない文献の区別ができるようになる）ことを目指す。
While enhancing their ability to comprehend historical materials and academic papers on medieval Japanese history, students will explore their research themes with an emphasis on the relationship with the writing of a graduation thesis.
In the third year, students will collect and read historical materials related to their own research themes (while referring to prior research), and will aim to acquire the ability to read academic research papers (in particular, the ability to distinguish literature based on academic procedures from those not).

①各回40分程度。参加者の研究テーマに関連する史料の輪読を行う。
②各回40分程度。毎回指定された報告者が，課題文献について，内容要約，論述・論証・史料解釈（史料操作）の仕方についてレジュメを作成して報告する。そのうえで，参加者全員で討議を行う。論文については，報告者と相談しながら，報告者の関心に応じて定める。「論文を書く」ためには「論文の書き方」が分からなければならない。報告者にはぜひ優れた「論文」をレジュメに要約することを通じて「論文の書き方」を学んでほしい。
③各自の研究テーマを確認し，それに沿って，関係文献・史料を収集整理し（機会をみて「文献目録」を作成してもらう），各自の研究テーマを深めていく。長期休み中にレポートを作成してもらう。具体的な報告の計画については，初回の授業で決める。
演習の理解を深めるために，史跡・博物館の巡検やゼミ合宿（年2回程度）なども実施するので、参加者は必ず参加すること。
