Cultural Anthropology is a discipline that seeks to understand "the rationality of others" and "the logic of others" through the method of participant observation, while simultaneously re-examining one's own "taken-for-granted" assumptions. In this seminar, students will learn the modes of thought and key concepts of cultural anthropology through literature reading. At the same time, students will develop a perspective to reconsider the "body"—a familiar and self-evident existence—from an anthropological viewpoint. The reading materials and lecture topics will be determined through consultation within the class, taking into account the interests and concerns of the students.
This class focuses on reading the literature on cultural and social anthropology. Also, student make research presentations based on their
interests.

文化人類学は、参与観察という手法を通じて「他者の合理性」や「他者の論理」を理解し、翻って自己の「当たり前」を問い直す学問です。本演習では、文献講読を通じて文化人類学の思考法や主要な概念を学ぶと同時に、身体という身近で自明な存在を文化人学の視点から捉え直す視座を養います。輪読文献や講義内容は、受講者の興味関心に応じて、授業内で相談しながら決定します。

文化・社会人類学に関する文献の輪読および学生の研究発表を中心とする。輪読では、発表者とコメンテータを毎回決め、受講生全員で議論を行う。学生の発表は、学生の関心に基づいてテーマを決め、グループ発表や個人発表を行う。
