Students will examine the climate and history of typical cities and rural areas in various regions of Japan using both new and old topographic maps, statistics, and other resources, to heighten interest toward those regions.
From the Chizu de yomu hyaku-nen series of books that cover all of Japan, students will select cities and rural areas of interest, introduce the content in class using PowerPoint, OHC (teaching material presentation equipment), etc., and will engage in general debate. Beginning with the first class, the course will repeat presentations and general debate by participants to deepen their understanding of the regional characteristics of cities and rural areas in Japan.

日本各地の代表的な都市や農村の風土や歴史を，新旧地形図や統計などを利用して考察し，地域に対する興味や関心を高める。

全国を網羅する『地図で読む百年』シリーズの著書の中から，各自興味・関心のある都市や農村を選択して，その内容をパワーポイントやOHC（教材提示装置）などを使って授業で紹介し，全体討論を行う。第１回目の授業以降，参加者による発表と全体討論を繰り返し，日本における都市や農村の地域的特性への理解を深める。
