The purpose of this class is to clarify the nature of faith and practice in the mega-cities of contemporary Japan through fieldwork related to rituals and spirituality in Toshima-ku. Students will further deepen their fieldwork in the spring semester and cultivate the ability to analyze and summarize their findings in a written report.
The contents of this class can be broadly categorized as follows. (1) Conducting fieldwork, (2) Analyzing and discussing data, and (3) Preparing a fieldwork report.Local fieldwork will be conducted on days when festivals are held in Toshima-ku.

本授業の目的は、豊島区の祭礼・霊性にかんするフィールドワークを通じて、現代日本のメガシティにおける信仰と実践のありかたを明らかにすることにある。春学期のフィールドワークをさらに深化させ、分析し、報告書にまとめる能力を培う。
The purpose of this class is to clarify the nature of faith and practice in the mega-cities of contemporary Japan through fieldwork related to rituals and spirituality in Toshima-ku. 本授業の内容は以下に大別される。（１）フィールドワークの実施、（２）データの分析と議論、（３）フィールドワーク報告書の作成。豊島区の祭礼が実施される日には現地フィールドワークを実施する。
