The aim of this course is to enable students to look at the history of international relations in East Asia not only from the perspective of one country, but also from the perspective of various other countries.
In this course, students will understand the actual state of international relations in East Asia, particularly in the 16th-18th centuries, focusing not only on bilateral but also on multilateral relations. Through specific examples of international relations in Ming and Qing China, Korea, Japan, Ryukyu and Siam, students will deepen their understanding of multilateral relations in East Asia, which are not visible in existing theories of East Asian international relations.

東アジアの国際関係の歴史を、ある一国からの視点だけではなく、様々な国の視点から考えられるようになることを目標とします。
The aim of this course is to enable students to look at the history of international relations in East Asia not only from the perspective of one country, but also from the perspective of various other countries.
本授業では、特に16－18世紀の東アジアの国際関係について、二国間の関係だけではなく、多国間の関係に着目しながらその実態を考えていきます。明清中国・朝鮮・日本・琉球・シャムの国際関係の具体的な事例を通し、既存の東アジア国際関係論では見えてこない東アジアの多国間の関係について考えを深めていきます。
