In recent years, the number of foreigners from the Asian region living in Japan has been steadily increasing, and opportunities to interact with these newcomers will surely increase. It is necessary to understand other cultures from a broad perspective and to coexist with people who have different customs. This course will discuss the history and culture of the maritime regions of Asia, with a focus on Southeast Asia, and the historical relationship with Japan.
This course will give an overview of the history of exchange between maritime Asia, particularly Southeast Asia and East Asia, from ancient times to the early modern period, through the introduction of World Cultural Heritage sites and archaeological research results on trade goods such as ceramics and copper coins.

近年、アジア地域から来る在日外国人は増加の一途をたどっており、今後、彼らとのかかわりを持つ機会は確実に増えていくであろう。広い視野から他文化を理解し、異なる習慣を持つ人々と共生していくことが求められている。この授業ではアジア海域、特に東南アジア各地域の歴史文化や、当該地域と日本が歴史上どのような関係をもっていたのかを理解する。

この授業では、アジア海域、特に東南アジア各地域と東アジアの古代から近世までの交流の歴史について、世界文化遺産の紹介や陶磁器や銅銭といった交易品の考古学的研究成果を通じて概観する。
