The course will consider multi-faceted viewpoints of history while introducing how the history of World War II is viewed from perspectives in Asia.
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the occupation policies implemented by the Japanese military in Asia during World War II. It examines how these wartime memories are currently preserved and represented in local contexts, particularly in war and history museums. Utilizing documentary footage from television whenever possible, the course integrates oral history with textual analysis to present a historical-anthropological approach.

高校までの歴史教育で、あまり重視されていない現代史に通じる第二次世界大戦の歴史について、アジアからの視点でいかに見られているかを紹介しながら、歴史の複眼的見方を考える。
The course will consider multi-faceted viewpoints of history while introducing how the history of World War II is viewed from perspectives in Asia.
この授業は、第二次世界大戦中に、日本軍がアジアにおいていかなる占領統治をおこなったかという点を総合的に俯瞰しながら、現在、そうした戦争記憶がどのように現地で記憶され、戦争・歴史博物館に展示されているのかを紹介する。できるだけテレビのドキュメンタリー映像資料を使いながら、オーラルヒストリーと文献研究を結合させた歴史人類学を講義する。
