Students will learn how to clarify concrete aspects of the Edo period Shogunate and regional society from concrete specific readings of past research and modern historical materials remaining in the region.
Taking the ranches under the direct jurisdiction of the Shogunate in Boso during the Edo period as its material, the course will clarify transitions of rule, roles, etc. in the Shogunate, and will concretely interpret the structure of regional society surrounding the directly controlled ranches. The course will also consider the relationship between the Shogunate and regional society through an examination of deer hunting by generals in directly controlled ranches during the Kyoho period, Kansei period, and Kaei period.

江戸時代の幕政、および地域社会の具体相を、これまでの研究や地域に残る近世史料の具体的な読解から明らかにする方法を学ぶ。
Students will learn how to clarify concrete aspects of the Edo period Shogunate and regional society from concrete specific readings of past research and modern historical materials remaining in the region.
江戸時代に房総に存在した幕府直轄の牧場を素材に取り上げ、幕府における支配や役割などの移り変わりを明らかにするとともに、この直轄牧をとりまく地域社会の構造を具体的に読み解いていく。また享保期・寛政期・嘉永期に直轄牧で行われた将軍による鹿狩の検討を通して、幕府と地域社会との関わりを考えていく。
