This course aims to help students learn the perspectives and methods of folklore studies, deepen their understanding of living cultures through specific themes, reflect on their own experiences and ways of thinking, and gain new perspectives for re-examining the various things around them.
In folklore, which focuses on the daily lives of ordinary people, every matter surrounding people becomes a research theme. In this lecture, we will learn about annual events, life rituals, food, clothing, shelter, and other themes that have been tackled since the early days of folklore, while understanding its establishment, development, and characteristics as a study of folklore. Alongside examples from mainland Japan, we will also examine cases from the Amami and Okinawa regions, exploring the culture of the Japanese archipelago from multiple perspectives.

| 毎回、講義内容に関連する映像を視聴する時間を設ける。受講者は毎回、講義内容や映像をふまえて質問、感想、考察などをリアクションペーパーに書いて提出する。提出された質問、感想、考察は、次回の授業で回答、紹介し、受講者で共有する。 |
授業中に紹介する参考文献の読解、授業内容に関わる文献の探索と読解、配布資料の再読に取り組むこと。
また、次のような「話を聞く」「思い出す」作業に取り組み、授業時に適宜リアクションペーパーに記載することがのぞましい。世代の異なる人に、当時の暮らしぶりを聞く。異なる社会集団（異なる大学やアルバイト先や家族等）に属する人に、その集団に独特の慣習などがあるか聞く。自分の子どもの頃の生活や遊びなどについて思い出す。

民俗学のものの見方や方法について学び、生活文化について個別のテーマに即して理解を深めながら、自らの経験や考え方を内省し、自らの周囲にある様々な物事を捉え直す視点を得る。

市井の人々の日々の暮らしに着目する民俗学では、人を取り巻くあらゆる事柄が研究テーマとなる。本講義では、年中行事、人生儀礼、衣食住など、民俗学の草創期から取り組まれてきたテーマについて、民俗学の学としての成立・展開・特質をおさえながら学んでいく。日本本土の事例とともに奄美・沖縄地域の事例も取り上げ、日本列島の文化を多角的に捉えていく。
