The objective of this lecture is to cultivate a comprehensive perspective on regional understanding by acquiring knowledge of ecological approaches to human society and by complementing social scientific approaches.
The following specific learning objectives have been identified:
- Acquire the basics of human ecology (ecological anthropology).
- Understand environmental issues from an anthropological perspective.
- Explain cultural and ethnic phenomena in Africa and the world.
- In addition, through the preparation of comment papers and final report, learn to verbalize and communicate what you have understood.
Ecological anthropology is a discipline that seeks to understand the interrelationship between human groups and their environment through in-depth participant observation.
First, this lecture will 1. Unravel the characteristics of humans as living organisms through an examination of human evolution. From there, it will introduce various natural environments and human lifestyles, and outline what it means to live in an environmentally adapted way, as well as what the field of human ecology (ecological anthropology) is.
2. In the next part, "Global Environmental Issues and Local People", the focus will be on the African rainforest, and we will gain a concrete understanding of the relationship between global environmental issues, such as deforestation and wildlife conservation, and local people.

本講義では、⼈類社会への⽣態学的アプローチを学ぶことを通して、社会科学的アプローチを補完し総合的な地域理解の視点を養うことを⽬標とする。
以下、具体的な到達目標を示す：
- 人類生態学（生態人類学）の基礎を習得する。
- 地域や地球規模の環境問題を人類学的視点から理解することができるようになる。
- アフリカおよび世界が経験してきた文化的・民族的な事象の背景を説明することができるようになる。
- くわえて、各回のコメントペーパーおよび最終レポート作成をとおして、理解したことを言語化し、外へと発信することを身につける。

生態人類学は、人間集団と環境の相互関係を徹底した参与観察をとおして理解しようとする学問である。
まず本講義では、１．生物としてのヒトの特徴を、人類進化から紐解く。そこから、さまざまな自然環境と人間の暮らしを紹介し、環境に適応した暮らしとはなにか、そして人類生態学（生態人類学）とはどんな分野なのか概説する。２．続く「地球環境問題と地域住民」では、アフリカ熱帯雨林を取り上げ、森林破壊や野生動物保護という地球環境問題と地域住民の関係について具体的に理解する。
Ecological anthropology is a discipline that seeks to understand the interrelationship between human groups and their environment through in-depth participant observation.
