Students will aim to be able to understand the social and systematic basics of contemporary education and contemporary issues from a sociological perspective.
1) Students will learn how the modern education systems in Japan and Western countries have been developed, and be able to understand ways of thinking about theories of modernization, schools and children. 2) Based on the diverse issues about the relation between education systems and contemporary society, students will discuss the effectiveness of considering sociological perspectives on education and inequality, and education-conscious societies, etc.

現代の学校教育に関する社会的、制度的事柄の基礎と現代的課題について、社会学的観点から理解できるようになることをめざす
Students will aim to be able to understand the social and systematic basics of contemporary education and contemporary issues from a sociological perspective.
１）西欧と日本における近代公教育制度の成立過程を概説し、近代化論、学校論、子ども論について基礎的な考え方を理解できるようにし、２）教育制度と現代社会との関係について多様な問題状況をふまえ、教育と不平等論、学歴社会論などの現代的課題に向き合う社会学的な視点の有効性を論じる。
