１．Acquire foundational knowledge about the history of Hansen’s disease.
２．Study the policies on Hansen’s disease implemented in Korea during Japan’s colonial rule.
３．Understand the discriminatory structures inherent in Hansen’s disease policies and cultivate awareness aimed at fostering a society that upholds human dignity.
This course aims to explore the history of leprosy through document analysis and fieldwork, fostering an understanding of the structures of discrimination while considering the creation of a society that values human dignity. Specifically, students will examine materials related to civic activities on leprosy, such as the "JLM (Japan Leprosy Mission)" archives housed in the university's Center for Inclusive Society Studies, to learn about the efforts of those who have lived with leprosy and use these insights to envision a future society. Additionally, by visiting the National Hansen’s Disease Museum and the Sanatorium for Hansen’s Disease (Zenseien), students will gain firsthand knowledge of the history of leprosy, the realities of segregation policies, and the lives of those directly affected.

授業外の時間を使って、実際にフィールドワークに行く時間を取ることが求められます。フィールドワークの日程は、第1回目の授業で受講する学生と相談して決める予定ですので、必ず参加してください。

２．日本の植民地支配期における韓国のハンセン病政策について学ぶ。
３．ハンセン病政策に内在する差別の構造を理解し、人間の尊厳を重視する社会の実現に向けた意識を培う。

本授業では、資料分析とフィールドワークを通じてハンセン病の歴史に触れ、差別の構造を理解するとともに、人間の尊厳を重視する社会の在り方を考察することを目的とします。具体的には、学内の共生社会研究センターが所蔵するハンセン病に関する市民活動の史料「JLM（Japan Leprosy Mission）」を用いて、ハンセン病とともに歩んできた人々の活動を学び、未来の社会を構想する材料とします。さらに、国立ハンセン病資料館や全生園を訪問することで、ハンセン病の歴史や隔離政策の実態を直に学び、当事者の生活を知る機会を設けます。
