The aim of this course is to clarify the impact of international relations, inter-regional relations and globalization on education, and the role education plays in this context. In particular, we will discuss and understand the issues related to development, international cooperation, sustainable societies and wellbeing. Students will learn how education contributes to social, economic and environmental sustainability.
Through this lecture, it is expected that the following goals will be achieved;
1) acquiring basic knowledge of international education
2) analyzing the role of education in building a sustainable society
3) Based on case studies, being able to set up problems in connecting with other fields of study
From the perspective of international education, this course will discuss and consider the role and significance of education in creating a sustainable society, and what the challenges are.
By considering education from multiple perspectives through discussion and concrete examples, we will cultivate the ability to set issues in collaboration with other fields, as well as the ability to have an interdisciplinary perspective, not just on issues in the field of education.
In addition, we would like to use current topics, with a focus on the African region. The African region is an area that is indispensable in international relations and global society. Furthermore, it is a treasure trove of things we need to learn about and things that are attractive when we think about “sustainability”.
While also coming into contact with the vibrant African society and culture, we will consider the impact and role of education in shaping society and creating the future. At the same time, we will also aim to gain an understanding of broader educational issues by using examples from outside Africa as points of comparison.
A multifaceted perspective can be gained through many dialogues and discussions. For this reason, this lecture will actively provide opportunities for students to be active themselves, such as through discussions and workshops. Students are expected to participate in these activities on their own initiative.

皆さんと国際教育学の奥深さやアフリカの魅力、ディスカッションする楽しさを共有しながら多くを学び合えることを楽しみにしています。
本科目は、国際関係や地域間関係、グローバル化する社会に教育にどのような影響を及ぼしているか、また、教育はどのような役割を担うかについて、明らかにすることを目標とする。特に、開発、国際協力、持続可能な社会、そしてウェルビーングに関連する論点を整理しながら議論し、理解する。受講者は、教育が社会的、経済的、環境的な持続可能性にどのように貢献するかということについて学ぶ。
本講義を通して、次の目標を達成することが期待される；
1）国際教育学の基礎的知識を習得する
2）持続可能な社会構築における教育の役割を分析する
3）事例をもとに、他領域の学問との連携した問題設定を行うことができる
The aim of this course is to clarify the impact of international relations, inter-regional relations and globalization on education, and the role education plays in this context. In particular, we will discuss and understand the issues related to development, international cooperation, sustainable societies and wellbeing. 本講義は、国際教育学の視点から、持続可能な社会づくりにおいて教育がどのような役割や意義をもって行われるのか、その課題は何か、議論し考察していくものである。ディスカッションや具体的な事例を通して教育のあり方を多面的に捉えることで、教育分野の諸問題のみならず他分野との連携した課題設定、学際的視点をもつ力を養う。
また、事例にはアフリカ地域を中心に時事的な話題も取り上げていきたい。アフリカ地域は、国際関係やグローバル社会において欠かすことのできない地域である。さらに、私たちが「持続可能性」を考えるうえで、学ぶべきことや魅力の宝庫である。生き生きとしたアフリカ社会・文化にも触れながら、教育が社会形成や未来づくりにどのような影響や役割を持つか考えていきたい。合わせて、アフリカ以外の事例を比較対象として用いながら、より広範な教育課題について理解していくことも目指す。
多面的な視点は多くの対話や議論を通して得られるものである。そのため、本講義ではディスカッションやワークショップなど、受講生自身が活動する機会を積極的に設ける予定である。受講生はこれらのアクティビティに主体的に参加することが求められる。
From the perspective of international education, this course will discuss and consider the role and significance of education in creating a sustainable society, and what the challenges are.
By considering education from multiple perspectives through discussion and concrete examples, we will cultivate the ability to set issues in collaboration with other fields, as well as the ability to have an interdisciplinary perspective, not just on issues in the field of education.
In addition, we would like to use current topics, with a focus on the African region. The African region is an area that is indispensable in international relations and global society. Furthermore, it is a treasure trove of things we need to learn about and things that are attractive when we think about “sustainability”.
