The goals of this class are twofold. (1) We will address the important question of "What is human communication" to develop the ability to critically analyze things we usually take for granted and enter into a discussion with others. (2) Students will acquire a basic knowledge of philosophy.
In general, communication can be defined as the process of sharing information, thoughts, or feelings between individuals. However, there are different views about how communication is established.
In this course, I will present several philosophical topics on communication. You will learn basic philosophical concepts from the beginning.

この授業の到達目標は次の二つです。（1）「人間とは何か」「コミュニケーションとは何か」をテーマにして、論証とはどのようなものかを理解し、批判的な思考を身につけること、（2）テーマに関連する基本的な哲学的知識を身につけること。

日常的な意味で「コミュニケーション」とは、各々が自分の思考・感情・情報などを伝達し合うことです。おそらく、このコミュニケーションという活動こそが人間社会の基盤にあるという考えに反対する人はいないでしょう。しかし、それがなぜ、どのように成り立つのかについてはさまざまな意見があります。この授業では、こうしたコミュニケーションをテーマにした哲学的議論の一部を紹介しつつ、その内容を批判的に検討します。具体的には、「他人の感情を理解するとはどのようなことなのか？」「私たちは、どのようにして他人の感情を理解するのか？」「そもそも感情とは何か？」といった問いを中心にして、これまでの哲学上の議論を解説します。
