Examine “What is a human being?” and “How should a human being be?” from a philosophical perspective, and acquire the ability to envision sustainable societies and ways of life.
To overcome the crisis of human survival, intensely manifested in environmental destruction, a fundamental and philosophical reexamination of humanity's journey since modernity is required. This course aims to reexamine the question “What is humanity?” in the form of “How should humanity exist in relation to nature?” while considering the problems of modern society. It further seeks to explore the challenges of “How should human society be?” and “How should humans live?” from this ecological framework.
The discussion will focus on topics such as environmental issues, regional decline, the crisis of democracy, educational problems, and the significance of dialogue and communication.
Classes will primarily consist of lectures followed by Q&A sessions on the content, concluding with a final in-class test.

「人間とは何か」、「人間とはどうあるべきか」を哲学的な観点から考察し、持続可能な社会と生活形態を構想する能力を獲得する。
Examine “What is a human being?” and “How should a human being be?” from a philosophical perspective, and acquire the ability to envision sustainable societies and ways of life.
環境破壊に集約的に表現されている人類生存の危機を乗り越えるためには、近代以降の人類の歩みに関する根本的で、哲学的な反省が必要とされる。本講義では、「人間とは何か」という問いを、近代社会の問題点を踏まえながら、「人間は自然との関係でどうあるべきか」という形で問い直し、そのエコロジカルな枠組みから「人間社会はどうあるべきか」「人間はどのような生き方をすべきであるか」という課題について考察することを目的とする。
環境問題、地方の衰退、民主主義の危機、教育問題、対話とコミュニケーションといったトピックを中心に議論を進める。
授業は、基本的に講義とその内容についての質疑応答の形で進められ、最終時間に授業内テストを行う。
To overcome the crisis of human survival, intensely manifested in environmental destruction, a fundamental and philosophical reexamination of humanity's journey since modernity is required.
