The objective of this course is to develop a sociological understanding of the characteristics of the contemporary situations surrounding today’s children and youth and to enable students to discuss more effective approaches to student guidance and career counseling.
This course examines research findings on how contemporary issues concerning children and youth emerge within various social contexts. First, students will learn about the characteristics of social changes in late modernity, such as globalization and individualization. Second, the course will provide an overview of the developmental processes of children and youth, focusing on both individual and collective dimensions. Third, students will study the institutional characteristics and unique social functions of school education. Fourth, building on these discussions, the course will explore the social backgrounds of current educational issues and examine the approaches required to address these challenges. Each lecture corresponds to a specific chapter of the designated textbook.

本講義の目標は、今日の子ども・若者たちがおかれた現代的な状況の特質を社会学的な視座から理解し、より望ましい生徒指導・進路指導のあり方を論じることができるようになることである。
The objective of this course is to develop a sociological understanding of the characteristics of the contemporary situations surrounding today’s children and youth and to enable students to discuss more effective approaches to student guidance and career counseling.
この講義では、現代的な子ども・若者問題がどのような社会状況のなかで生じているのかを論じた諸研究の知見について学ぶ。第一に、グローバル化や個人化といった、後期近代における社会変動の特質について学ぶ。第二に、子ども・若者の発達のプロセスについて、個人的・集団的な次元のそれぞれについてその特徴を概観する。第三に、学校教育の制度的特質と独自の社会的機能について学ぶ。第四に、これまでの議論を踏まえつつ、今日的な教育問題がいかなる社会的な背景のもとで生じているのか、これらの問題に対してどのような対応が求められるのかについて学ぶ（各回の講義は指定テキストの各章と対応しています）
