Regarding what they have learned about home economics in school education up until now, students will be able to reconsider the role of economics in schools while developing subject philosophies and teaching philosophies, etc., through teaching, as well as deepening their appreciation for the interesting and appealing points of home economics.
In the first half of the class, students will consider the relevant historical background, significance of learning, class objectives and content of home economics through lectures and active learning, and the second half of the class will focus on workshops where students will consider the appealing points and relevant issues of home economics. Students are expected to be able to broaden their range of subjective learning opportunities through group discussion, experience learning such as garment making (hand sewing and machine sewing, etc.), simple experiments and cooking practice, as well as presentations, etc.

これまで学ぶ側にあった学校教育における家庭科について、指導する側を意識した教科観・指導観等を培い、家庭科の面白さや大切さ等を探りながら、家庭科教育の役割をとらえ直すことができる。

前半は教科「家庭」に関する史的背景や学ぶ意義、および教科の目標や内容等を講義やアクティヴラーニングを通じ検討し、後半はワークショップ中心に家庭科の魅力や課題等を検討していく。グループディスカッション、被服実習（手縫いやミシン縫い等）や簡易実験等の体験学習、プレゼンテーション等によって受講生が主体的に学べる機会を可能な範囲で多く取り入れる予定である。
