This class aims to rethink the division and conflict between nations through plays and films as reference points, based on one of the goals of the SDGs, “Peace and justice for all,” and to use this as a guide when we think about how we should act.
Theater and film have the function of allowing us to empathize with beings different from ourselves and to transform the stories of others into our own experiences. In this class, we will look at the endless tragic conflicts in the Middle East from different perspectives and seek ways to avoid wars through the function of the representational arts.
We will focus on theater and film from Palestine and Israel, and think about the realities depicted in them, after understanding the background. We will use materials in English and Japanese. We will also think about the issues as our own problems by role-playing, etc., to consider what we would do if we were in the same situation.
Students are asked to make a presentation of some films that attempt to overcome this conflict through "dialogue" and share the content with the other students for discussion.

英語の基本的な読解能力。ただし授業では語学力よりも問題について考えることを重視するので、履修者全員のレベルに対応したものにします。
一般的なPC、WEB環境以外は特にありません。授業に持ち込むか否かは自由です。
授業担当者は、イスラエル演劇をウォッチしてきた演劇研究者です。この授業が始まる2025年秋、中東情勢がどのようになっているか予測がつきませんが、演劇が集団の争いをどのように描いてきたか、演劇がどのように現実を見直す契機を与えるか、この授業を通じて考えていただきたいと思います。
この科目は「英語に関連する科目」です。使用言語は英語ではありませんが英語のテキストやデータベースを用いて授業を行うバイリンガルの設定となっています。使用する資料等については上記の「テキスト」「参考文献」の欄で確認してください。
本授業は、ＳＤＧｓの掲げる目標のひとつ「平和と公正をすべての人に」に基づき、演劇や映画を参考に、国家／民族間の分断と対立について考え、私たちがどのように行動するべきかの指標とすることを目指します。
演劇や映画は、自分とは異なる存在に対して共感を持ち、他者の物語を自分の体験へと転化する機能を持っています。中東の終わりのない悲惨な対立を考える時に、演劇や映画を通じて、戦争を避けるための方法を考える授業です。

イスラエルとパレスチナの演劇と映画を取り上げ、その背景を理解した上で、描かれた現実について考えます。資料は英語・日本語のものを使います。また、もし自分が同じ状況にあったらどうするか、ロールプレイング等をすることにより自分の問題として考えます。
また、履修者は、この対立を乗り越える「対話」のヴィジョンを持った映画作品を鑑賞して発表、その内容を共有してディスカッションすることが求められます。
We will focus on theater and film from Palestine and Israel, and think about the realities depicted in them, after understanding the background. We will use materials in English and Japanese.
