This course aims to help students understand the earth's overall history, grasp the background of the SDG concept, and consider why we must protect nature. Students are required to discuss and present their ideas in English.
The course uses the text "Journey of the Universe" to grasp and understand how the earth and nature developed through its history. Through understanding such a "journey," the course intends to question how humans should be. Although it does not directly touch upon the economics and politics of the SDG, this course aims to grasp the background of the SDG concept. Students are required
to read the text beforehand, present, and discuss their thoughts during the class.
Note that during the first orientation class, I aim to ask students about their preferences and what they want to learn from this class. Based on the survey, I might change the course structure accordingly.

テキストは比較的、平易な英語で書かれています。自然科学や、人間と自然の関係性に関心がある学生に、積極的に受講してほしいと思います。 各授業前には毎回、事前学習で読んできた章についての感想を、英語で50-100ワード以内にまとめてきてもらい、それをベースに英語での討議をします。事前学習のウェイトが大きいことに留意して、受講してください。

本授業の目標はSDGの概念を理解するにあたり、その背景となる地球全体の歴史を概観することにより、なぜ私たちが自然を守らなくてはならないのかを考えていきます。授業では各学生による英語での発表や討論を通して、SDGに対し、自らの考えを英語で発表できるようにすることを目標とします。

本授業では、緑の政治、経済を考える前提として、地球全体の歴史を概観しつつ、人間の在り方を改めて問い直すJourney of the Universeを教科書とします。受講学生には、授業前に事前予習をしてくることを必須とします。授業の前半では、教科書を読んでいることを前提に内容把握についての担当者から簡単な（日本語での）解説、および、テキストの音読をしていきます。授業の後半では、クラス全体での哲学対話形式での討議を英語で行い、自らの考えを英語で簡潔に述べるための発話練習を行います。学期末には、教科書の内容から想起された内容、あるいはそれぞれの関心を発展させ、英語でプレゼンテーションをしてもらい、プレゼンテーションをもって学期末テストとします。
ただし、初回、オリエンテーションで学生の要望を受け付け、授業内容を柔軟に学生諸君の希望に応じて変更する可能性もあります。
The course uses the text "Journey of the Universe" to grasp and understand how the earth and nature developed through its history. Through understanding such a "journey," the course intends to question how humans should be.
