The goal of this course is to equip students with a broad range of foundational knowledge and skills for working with digital information and data that are essential for conducting research in digital humanities.
Students will learn, through lectures and practical exercises, a wide range of topics such as literature searching, the use of databases and digital archives, data acquisition and management, text data processing, and the use of AI. In hands-on sessions, students will work on their own computers under the instructor’s supervision to develop general methodological skills for working with digital data.

ノートパソコンの持参を必須とします。タブレットも可ですが、OSはWindows、macOS、Linux（ディストリビューションは問わない）のいずれかであること（Android・iOS・iPadOS・ChromeOS等は不可）。
進捗状況等に応じて、または履修者のニーズを踏まえて、授業計画は柔軟に変更する可能性があります。
また、この科目は「英語に関連する科目」です。使用言語は英語ではありませんが、英語のテキストやデータベースを用いて授業を行うバイリンガルの設定となっています。使用する資料等については上記の「テキスト」「参考文献」の欄で確認してください。
なお、本科目は「人文情報・メディア学特論４」と交互に隔年開講されるものであり、それぞれ基礎論・応用論という関係にあります。
人文情報学（digital humanities）の研究を行うにあたって必要となる、デジタル形式の情報やデータを扱う基礎的な知識・技術を幅広く身につけることを目標とする。

文献の探索、各種のデータベースやデジタルアーカイブの活用、データの入手、文献・データの管理、テキストデータの処理、AIの活用等のさまざまなトピックについて、講義と実習を通じて学ぶ。実習では、教員の指導の下、受講生は各自のPC上で作業を行い、人文情報学にとどまらずデジタル形式のデータを扱う際の一般的な方法論の習熟を目指す。
