This course aims to comprehensively grasp the essence of Japanese literature as a whole, based on an understanding of the characteristics of various works of Japanese literature from ancient times to modern times.
From ancient times to modern times, a wide variety of Japanese literary works have been created and enjoyed. This course will provide an overview of these works and provide a comprehensive perspective on the essence of Japanese literature as a whole.
Several full-time faculty members specializing in Japanese literature will take turns lecturing, each presenting their own perspective on Japanese literature. Class materials will be prepared for each class. Students will be asked to submit comments or short reports after each class. Students are expected to think about Japanese literature for themselves, rather than simply passively listening to the faculty's lectures.

日本文学とは何か、古代から近現代までの日本文学のさまざまな作品の特質を理解した上で、日本文学全体の本質を総合的に捉える。
This course aims to comprehensively grasp the essence of Japanese literature as a whole, based on an understanding of the characteristics of various works of Japanese literature from ancient times to modern times.
古代から近現代に至るまで、さまざまな日本文学の作品が生まれて、享受されてきた。それらを概観しながら、日本文学全体の本質を総合的に捉える観点から講義する。
日本文学専修の複数の専任教員が交替で講義し、それぞれの観点から日本文学についての論を展開する。授業の資料はその都度、用意する。受講者には、毎回、コメントあるいは小レポートの提出を求める。受講生は教員の講義を受動的に聞くだけでなく、自ら日本文学について考える姿勢が求められる。
