This course examines world history through the formation and development of societies and cultures mediated by maritime world in both east and west Eurasia. Through this approach, the course aims to enable students to develop a multifaceted and multilayered understanding of history.
In order to understand world history through maritime worlds, the first half of the course features lectures by Morio on the history of the ancient eastern Mediterranean, focusing on human mobility, trade networks, and maritime control exercised by political powers. The second half consists of lectures by Yokkaichi on the relationship between Eastern Eurasia and maritime worlds, with particular attention to the Islamic world and eastern Maritime Asia.

東西ユーラシアそれぞれにおいて、海域を介した社会や文化の形成や展開から世界史を学ぶことを通じて、多角的かつ重層的な歴史認識ができるようになることを目標とする。
This course examines world history through the formation and development of societies and cultures mediated by maritime world in both east and west Eurasia. Through this approach, the course aims to enable students to develop a multifaceted and multilayered understanding of history.
海域を通じた世界史を理解するため、前半は師尾が古代東地中海の歴史に関して、人の動きと交易ネットワーク、政治権力による海上支配についての講義をおこなう。後半は四日市が東方ユーラシアと海域世界の関わりについて、イスラーム世界と海域アジア東部を対象として講義をおこなう。
In order to understand world history through maritime worlds, the first half of the course features lectures by Morio on the history of the ancient eastern Mediterranean, focusing on human mobility, trade networks, and maritime control exercised by political powers.
