This course introduces digital humanities (DH) as a field of practice at the intersection of the humanities and information science, and provides an overview of the current state of digital media closely related to DH. Through this exploration, the course aims to offer students an opportunity to reflect on the roles and possibilities of the humanities in digital society.
The course is structured in three parts: “Foundations of DH and media studies,” “Current state of DH,” and “Current state of digital media.” Classes will be conducted through a combination of lectures by the instructor, talks by guest speakers, and dialogue among the instructor, guest speakers, and students. Further details, including information on guest speakers, will be provided at the start of the course.

基幹科目で展開される人文情報・メディア学関連科目全体に対する導入の役割を果たす授業です。デジタル時代における文学・思想・歴史学といった人文学の新しいあり方や、現代のデジタルメディアに関心のある学生、またデュアル・プログラム「人文情報・メディア学プログラム」を志望する学生は積極的に受講してください。
本科目は、文学部・文学研究科・キリスト教学研究科デュアル・プログラム応募のための必修科目となる。プログラムへの進学を考えている１・２年次生は２年次秋学期の応募時までに単位を修得もしくは履修登録しておく必要がある。
人文学と情報学の交わる実践領域である人文情報学（digital humanities）について紹介し、さらに人文情報学と関係の深いデジタルメディアの現在を概観します。そのことによって、デジタル社会における人文学のあり方や可能性について、受講生それぞれが考えるためのきっかけを得ることを目標とします。
