We will learn the basics of Biblical Hebrew. As the first stage of the learning, this course is intended to get familiar with Hebrew characters and texts by reading them aloud. The basic grammar will be learned quickly.
The course will give students as much opportunity as possible to read actual texts of Hebrew Bible, while learning introductory grammar. Homework will be assigned. The first half of the course will emphasize reading aloud and learning characters. The
second half will also use modern Hebrew, a living language used in modern Israel, as an aid to grammar learning.

初級文法を学びながら、できるだけ多く旧約聖書の原典に触れる機会をもつ。宿題、課題提出を随時課す。学期前半は音読、文字の習得を重視したい。後半は、現代のイスラエルで生活語として用いられている現代ヘブライ語も文法学習の手がかりとして利用する。
