Through a close reading of American short stories, students in this course will acquire the skill to interpret literary texts in a scholarly way.
We will read American short stories written in the 20th and 21st century. During class hours, assigned students will distribute handouts containing summaries, questions, and interpretations of the texts. Then, we will participate in a discussion about them.
Besides the class work, students will read an assigned text and submit an essay on it.

毎回全員が参加する演習形式の授業であるため、特別な理由のない限り、毎回の出席を必須とします。
アメリカの短篇作品の読解を通して、文学作品に関する自身の考察を組み立てる力を身に付けます。
Through a close reading of American short stories, students in this course will acquire the skill to interpret literary texts in a scholarly way.
アメリカ短篇小説を読んだうえで、各回の発表担当者が作成したハンドアウトを元に授業を行ないます。あらすじと語学的な不明点の確認に加え、作品解釈に関する不明点や疑問点に基づき、クラス全体でディスカッションを行ないます。扱う作品は20世紀から21世紀にかけてのアメリカ短篇小説です。
また、毎週の授業とは別に、各自で課題図書を読み進め、それについてのレポートを作成します。
