Notes

【Course Objectives】

This course aims to continue to provide a comprehensive introduction to modernist poetry, and focus specifically on the major poetic works of T. S. Eliot. Further course objectives include improvement in discussion skills, and the acquisition of a wider analytical vocabulary.

【Course Contents】

This course will closely examine the later poetic works of the great literary figure - T. S. Eliot (1888-1965). Discussion will include detailed accounts of Eliot’s most celebrated late philosophical poetry, and will also consider broader definitions of literature and twentieth century artistic experimentation to help familiarise students with the central tenets of Modernism.
