This course covers three British short stories from the 19th and 20th centuries. Through close reading of the assigned texts, students will develop literary analytical skills as well as essential literary knowledge and English proficiency.
Classes will consist of all students taking turns reading preassigned passages aloud. Active participation is required in every class. After reading aloud and providing Japanese translations, students will engage in discussion as appropriate.
Three short tests will be administered at appropriate points during the semester to review the material covered in class. The final exam will be held on the last day of the course and will consist of a writing exam based on reading material not covered in class.

19世紀～20世紀に書かれた、3篇の英国の短編小説を深く味わいましょう。精読することで、文学作品を分析する上で必要な知識と英語力を培います。
This course covers three British short stories from the 19th and 20th centuries. Through close reading of the assigned texts, students will develop literary analytical skills as well as essential literary knowledge and English proficiency.
毎回適当な分量をあらかじめ指定し、授業自体は輪読形式を基礎とします。常に全員参加型で、当番制ではありません。音読と日本語訳をした上で、必要に応じてディスカッションを行います。また、授業時間内で読み進んできた英文テクストのレヴューとなるような小テストを3度実施します。最終授業時には、授業時間には取り上げなかった英文を用いて、読解力を測る筆記テストを行います。
