This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of the development of the English language and the history of England through an examination and analysis of their interaction.
Students will learn about the interaction between the English language and British as well as world history through an analysis of historical changes in the structure of English. The focus of the analysis is on changes resulting from internal and external factors affecting the language.

本講座の目的は、英語という言語とその歴史との関連性を理解することにある。英語史と英国史、そして両者の相互作用について理解を深めることを目標とする。
This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of the development of the English language and the history of England through an examination and analysis of their interaction.
世界語である英語と英国史（世界史）がどのように相互に影響を与え合ってきたのかを、通時的観点から分析する。英語はヨーロッパ大陸に起源をもち、英国に渡来した後、多様な言語との接触を通じて発達してきた。英語内部における言語的変化に加え、その形成に大きく寄与してきた外的要因についても理解を深める。
