備考/ NotesNotes |
This course is an introduction to fiction and stories that concern hauntings, ghosts, and warped spaces in fiction and cinema, across sources from different geographical locations in Anglophone nations, such as America and Britain.
In this class, students will approach stories about ghosts through the lens of cultural studies and historical contexts. In addition to stories about ghosts and haunted spaces, students will be introduced to social criticism, religious studies, gender theory, cultural theory, and scientific theories that suit the story we are discussing. We will attempt to define what a "ghost" or "haunting" is and how the definition of these phenomena changes over time, location, belief, and cultural practice.
