【Course Objectives】

This course aims to enable students to understand the United States politics and culture within its historical context.

【Course Contents】

The year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States ‘Declaration of Independence’ on July 4, 1776. It is fascinating from both historical and political perspectives that Donald Trump is the president who will celebrate this milestone in American history. In this class, we will reexamine contemporary events by placing them within the context of American history.

This course aims to enable students to understand the United States politics and culture within its historical context.

【授業の内容 / Course Contents】

2026年は、アメリカが1776年7月4日に「独立宣言」を公表してから250年に当たります。アメリカ史におけるこの記念日を言祝ぐ大統領がドナルド・トランプという人物でとなったことは歴史学的にも政治学的にもとても興味深いのではないでしょうか。この授業では、現代の出来事をアメリカ史の構造の中に位置づけて再検討いたします。
