By reading representative works of modern and contemporary German lyric poetry in a historical perspective, students will acquire knowledge of verse form, prosody, and phonological techniques, and at the same time consider how lyric poetry as a literary genre has been passed down and changed from the modern period to the present.
This is an exercise-style class. Using translations of German poems prepared in advance, students will examine whether they have a correct grammatical understanding of each word of the original German text. We will then discuss the external characteristics of the work, the music, and the subject matter of the poem. Information necessary for understanding individual poems (author, period, verse form, prosody, and phonological technique) will be explained by the instructor.

ドイツ語の初級文法を一通り学んでいることが前提となる。
初回に授業の進め方を説明するので必ず出席するように。
近現代ドイツ語抒情詩の代表的作品を通史的に読むことによって、詩形式・韻律・音韻的技術に関する知識を習得すると同時に、文芸ジャンルとしての抒情詩が近代から現代にかけてどのように受け継がれたのか、また変わっていったのかを考える。

演習形式の授業である。授業で扱うドイツ語の詩について、担当者が事前に用意した翻訳を使って、ドイツ語の原文を一語一語文法的に正しく理解できているのか検討する。その上で、作品がもつ外形的特徴、音楽、詩の主題について全員で議論する。個々の詩を理解する上で必要となる情報（作者、時代、詩形式、韻律、音韻的技術）は教員が説明する。
