【Course Objectives】

Students will acquire advanced German reading skills through close reading of various types of texts, including travelogues, cultural criticism on literature and art, and political propaganda. The class also aims to deepen students' understanding of German-speaking cultures in terms of cross-cultural representations.

【Course Contents】

What is the historical relationship between Germany and Japan, and how have they interacted with each other? How has Japan been represented in Germany? Students will read a selection of representative German documents from the 17th to the 20th century that relate to this theme, and consider the significance of studying different cultures.
