We will read German literature from the late 12th to early 13th centuries. Students will acquire a basic knowledge of the role of literature in the medieval courtly society and manuscript culture.
All students will learn the basics of Middle High German and read "Nibelungenlied" and Gottfried von Strassburg's "Tristan". In parallel, selected students will research introductory literature written in German or Japanese and give a presentation.

12世紀後半から13世紀初頭のドイツ文学作品を読む。また中世の宮廷社会における文芸の役割、写本の文化について学ぶ。
We will read German literature from the late 12th to early 13th centuries. Students will acquire a basic knowledge of the role of literature in the medieval courtly society and manuscript culture.
中高ドイツ語の基礎を学び、『ニーベルンゲンの歌』とゴットフリート・フォン・シュトラスブルクの『トリスタンとイゾルデ』の講読をおこなう。また背景知識を得るため、入門的な図書や研究文献を読む。担当者はレジュメを準備し発表する。
