The goal of the course is to deepen students' knowledge of national culture of German-speaking areas and to enable them to articulate their own views accurately. The three key points are: 1) to be able to explain the basic concepts presented in class, taking into account the differences between German and Japanese; 2) to be able to describe the content of the lecture in one's own words; 3) to be able to express one’s own opinions based on the above.
The focus will be on the formation of national culture in the German-speaking areas in the nineteenth century. We will consider the nature of culture as it emerged in the German-speaking areas (especially Prussia), where nationalism was on the rise. After studying the trends in the German-speaking areas for each topic, we will also focus on related trends in modern Japan to relativize our ideas about national culture.

ドイツ語圏の国民文化について見識を深め、自身の見解を的確に述べることを到達目標とします。これにあたり、以下の３点がポイントになります。１）授業で提示される基本概念について、ドイツ語と日本語との差異を踏まえて説明することができる。２）講義内容を自身の言葉でまとめることができる。３）以上に基づき自身の意見を述べることができる。

十九世紀のドイツ語圏における国民文化の形成に焦点を当てます。ナショナリズムが台頭するドイツ語圏（特にプロイセン）で顕在化してくる文化のあり方について考えていきます。各回のトピックについてドイツ語圏の動向を学んだうえで、これに関連する近代日本の動向にも注目し、国民文化についての考え方を相対化していきます。
