This course compares works by women writers who wrote in French in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
This course examines works by French women writers and women writers who write in French, reading them comparatively by moving backward in time from the twenty-first century. It explores how the themes addressed in these works have evolved, while paying close attention to broader social transformations. The authors studied include Marie Darrieussecq, Kim Thúy, Annie Ernaux, Marie NDiaye, Nancy Huston, Marguerite Duras, and Nathalie Sarraute. Focusing on works that depict conflicts between two cultural spheres and explore the diversity of cultures and values, the course compares these texts through the lens of “border-crossing.”

フランス人女性作家およびフランス語で執筆する女性作家たちの作品を、21世紀から年代を遡る形で読み比べ、扱われるテーマがどのように変化したのか、社会の変遷にも留意しながら作品を味わう。扱う作家は、マリー・ダリュセック、キム・チュイ、アニー・エルノー、マリー・ンディアイ、ナンシー・ヒューストン、マルグリット・デュラス、ナタリー・サロート。2つの文化圏の間で葛藤し、文化や価値観の多様性を描いた作品を、「越境」というテーマから読み比べる。
