This course aims to engage with contemporary issues in French society. Every two weeks, students will read and translate French articles on a different theme. Themes will cover a wide range of subjects including politics, media culture, economics, the corporate world, literature, philosophy, and cultural issues such as gender equality and discrimination. These readings will be supplemented by media analysis and discussion sessions. The seminar aims not only to cultivate students' critical thinking skills and deepen their understanding of contemporary French culture, but also to improve reading comprehension and oral expression skills, and to learn translation strategies.
This class provides ample opportunities to watch, listen to, and view French media. The instructor conducts the class in French, supplementing with explanations in Japanese. Even if your French is limited, you can still fully participate.

この授業は、フランス社会の現代的な問題と向き合うことを目的としています。2週間ごとに違うテーマ
について、フランス語の記事を読み、翻訳します。テーマは、政治、メディア文化、経済、企業界、文学、
哲学、あるいは男女平等や差別などの文化的な問題など多岐にわたります。これらの読解は、メディア分析
やディスカッションセッションによって補完されます。このゼミの目的は、学生の批判的思考力を養い、現
代フランス文化への理解を深めるだけでなく、読解力や口頭表現力を向上させ、翻訳の戦略を学ぶことでも
あります。
